Yesterday at the Capitol
The House Capital Investment Committee is beginning to hear from agencies and organizations regarding their wish list in capital projects this session. Yesterday, the University of Minnesota was before the committee, seeking $77 million in capital funding for facility maintenance and upgrades. While bonding bills are traditionally passed during the second year (even-numbered years) of the biennium, Chair Rep. Paul Torkelson, R-Hanska, said he would like to see a bonding bill this session.
The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities will be before the House Capital Investment Committee on Tuesday with a total request of $198.5 million. See the attached document for the details of MnSCU’s request.
