Yesterday at the Capitol
Budget discussion is beginning to take center stage at the Capitol this week. The House Ways and Means Committee met yesterday morning and among other things, discussed the House budget resolution that will be adopted by March 24. The budget resolution sets the amount of general fund money the House plans to spend over the 2016-2017 biennium. Finance committees, including higher education, will receive their targets in the budget resolution and will begin to craft their omnibus bills. Finance committees need to have their bills out of committee by April 24.
At 1:00 p.m. today, Governor Mark Dayton will hold a press conference to announce his supplemental budget proposal.
