Caring in an Unjust World (Webinar)
July 1, 2021 @ 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
FreeDescription
In this webinar, participants will discuss how caring for students of color and low-income students becomes a political act because it pushes back against the racialized disparities in academic outcomes that continue to affect our students. Participants will investigate how to construct caring teacher-student relationships that stem from their intentions to positively influence the lives of all students, but specially students of color and low-income students. Following Baldwin’s guidance, participants will understand that today more than ever educators need to “go for broke” and through caring relationships create spaces that allow students the opportunity to critique systems of oppression and power structures that maintain the status quo.
