Culturally-Based Learning Preferences and Your Teaching: Fall 2023
October 13 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Free
In Patrick Parrish and Jennifer A. Linder-VanBerschot’s article “Cultural Dimensions of Learning: Addressing the Challenges of Multicultural Instruction” from the journal International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning (2010), they describe a construct for understanding how our cultures influence the way we prefer to learn. Key to us as educators is how those specific cultural learning preferences then translate into how we present our materials in class, our goals for students’ learning, and the ways we expect students to participate within the course. Not only will we discuss these dimensions of learning in this webinar, but we will also look at the survey itself and how your preferences can support some students while leaving out others. If you plan on attending and want to have the fullest possible experience, email Kelli at kelli.hallstenerickson@lsc.edu ahead of time for the survey to take before the webinar.
