Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and Trauma Responsive Pedagogy (Webinar)
January 21 @ 2:00 PM - 3:00 PMFree
Both Culturally Responsive Practices (CRP) and Trauma Responsive Practices (TRP) can offer us insight and support as we shift to bring students quality and compassionate education during the COVID-19 pandemic and the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd. Both CRP and TRP understand that when we are marginalized or overwhelmed, our learning capacity is severely compromised. Further, both advocate that we intentionally and explicitly build safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment into our relationships with students in order to ensure their success.
In this webinar, we’ll have the opportunity to examine the overlaps between CRP and TRP and collectively explore how we might bring our current practices more closely into alignment with the best practices they advocate. Know too that this work will help sustain us as we find our own way through the pandemic. Indeed, if we take it on, we (our students, our institutions, and ourselves) will emerge stronger on the other side.
