Designing and Using Authentic Course Assessments
November 8, 2022 @ 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Free
One common criticism of conventional exams is that they do not provide a meaningful measure of student learning; being able to recognize a correct answer in a multiple-choice test provides no guarantee that a student could apply that knowledge in a real-world situation. Authentic assessments can be used to address this criticism as they simulate work tasks that students might be expected to complete on the job.
In this webinar we will discuss what makes an assessment authentic, how to design this type of assessment, and how to incorporate them into an existing course. Time will be provided for attendees to discuss ideas for designing and using authentic assessments in their own classes.
