Short Course

Description

This course is comprised of a series of modules designed to prepare deans to better support and encourage the academic equity work of faculty. The content will also prepare participants to employ inclusive leadership practices that can help advance and sustain the equity work of faculty at the institutional level.

Course Learning Objectives 

After completing the course, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between institutional equity and academic equity.
  • Describe the role of faculty in achieving academic equity through curricular and pedagogical interventions.
  • Identify strategies that can facilitate and support the equity work of faculty.
  • Distinguish between contingent-reward leadership and transformational leadership.
  • Evaluate institutional-level strategies that can support and sustain equitable organizational change.

Suggested Audience 

Minnesota State college and university deans.

Estimated Time Commitment 

Most participants are able to complete this course by committing 4-6 hours per week.

As you progress through this course, please consider how you can use the assignments as a way to highlight your work on your Professional Development Plan. Consider sharing your work with your leadership team.
