Improving discussion to strengthen student engagement: Minnesota State research partnership with Packback
March 23, 2021 @ 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
Free
In case you were not yet aware, Minnesota State recently launched a three-year research project evaluating student performance while using Packback
The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of online discussion pedagogy on student engagement and performance facilitated by an artificial intelligent instructional support technology, Packback, and whether performance differs by age, gender, race/ethnicity, financial aid status, or first generation status. Packback has conducted other studies of a similar nature that yielded strong results for institution’s reduction in DFW rates, improvement of student writing, and strengthening of student engagement. Our first cohort through Minnesota State consists of 9 faculty members across the system and will grow each term.
This session will be co-hosted by Minnesota State faculty, Scott Wojtanowksi: System Director for Educational Technology and Development, and Devyn Maguire: Senior Academic Innovation Consultant at Packback
Participants of this session will gain a deep understanding of our research design, current institutional outcomes, and the functionality of Packback’s artificial intelligence supported technology. This session will serve campus administrators and instructional support members in understanding the intentions of this research and how your institution may wish to get involved in the future.
