Redesigning curriculum to be more inclusive, and representative of all voices

This session will offer an overview of the overlaps between Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and Open Educational Pedagogy, with an aim of supporting participants’ confidence in making their next steps in their equity/open journeys.

Lisa Bergin, Minneapolis College

Lisa teaches in the Philosophy Department and is also their Center for Teaching and Learning’s Equity Consultant. She has developed Culturally Responsive Pedagogy trainings that she delivers both to her local campus, as well as system-wide. These trainings incorporate Poverty Responsive Pedagogy, Trauma Responsive Pedagogy, Open Educational Pedagogy, Universal Design in Learning, and Mindfulness Equity Practices.


Koffee with Karen: OER Community Conversations are open forum conversations for all to share, discuss, and learn from colleagues in the Minnesota State OER community. Hosted by Karen Pikula, the OER Faculty Development Coordinator, Koffee with Karen conversations are virtual, hour-long meetings held twice per semester and feature a guest speaker on a topic of interest.
