OER Community Conversations: October

Open Education Best Practices: Pearls of Wisdom from Minnesota State Practitioners
Topic: Creating Quizzes with ChatGPT
Presenter: Dr. Bradley Wolfe, Ridgewater College
Faculty are sometimes hesitant to adopt open-education resources because they lack the same type and quality of ancillary resources, such as quiz banks to go with the textbook. ChatGPT is a great resource to help instructors quickly make quizzes using OER textbooks or other written materials. Plus, publisher quiz banks often get posted online for students to easily Google the answers and cheat their way through quizzes and tests. Quizzes created through ChatGPT are an efficient way to create ancillary resources while helping improve academic integrity in the classroom.
Dr. Bradley Wolfe has been teaching communication classes since 2014. He started as a graduate teaching assistant at Minnesota State University, Mankato for two years. He started at Ridgewater College in the fall of 2021 as a full-time communication instructor.
