NED Events Calendar

The NED was established to provide educational development opportunities that are designed by Minnesota State faculty and staff for Minnesota State faculty and staff. These opportunities help build awareness, develop knowledge, skills, and abilities, and provide space for reflecting and revising.

Processing (election) emotions with acknowledgement, acceptance, and presence – option 1 (Webinar)

October 27, 2020 @ 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Faculty who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC) are invited to gather in community on a 90-minute Zoom video call, to discuss issues surrounding the upcoming elections. This BIPOC-focused space is in recognition that the way we negotiate the world — both in and outside the classroom — is fundamentally different from the ways our white counterparts do. Particularly in the current moment, topics such as policing, the pandemic and government’s response to it, barriers to voting, and others are highly racialized and politicized.

What does this mean in terms of how we engage with our students, colleagues, families, communities, and even ourselves? How can we center our own wellness, and at the same time remain open to the way things are right now?

Please read the following article before attending (not required):
