Using Pressbooks to Enhance OER Delivery: Summer 2022

Short Course
Description
Pressbooks is an online platform designed to encourage self-publication under a Creative Commons license. It is easy to use and provides a variety of options for including media such as images and videos. This short course will introduce you to the platform, walk you through creating a free account, and provide you with tools and resources to help you start your own publication. By the end of the course, you will have a Pressbooks account, a title and placeholder for a publication, and a chapter outline of your work.
Learning objectives:
Participants will be able to…
- Explain how Pressbooks can be applied to an individual scholarship plan
- Consider 2-3 possible topics for publication in Pressbooks
- Identify options for including culturally responsive teaching practices and accessibility using the Pressbooks platform
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Pressbooks Dashboard through the design of a book shell with a title, front matter, part, chapter, and back matter
