Classroom, Event Management, and Resource Scheduling (CEMRS) (February 2012 CEMRS Scoop Article)

Classroom, Event Management, and Resource Scheduling (CEMRS) (February 2012 CEMRS Scoop Article)—A systemwide team has worked for several months to evaluate and select a vendor to replace the room scheduling software in place at most of our campuses. The Chancellor and the Leadership Council have endorsed the selection and the system wide implementation design.

The overall goal of the project is in alignment with Chancellor Rosenstone’s strategic framework objective: “We will be the highest value / most affordable higher education option.” To this end this project will allow the campuses of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities to schedule their space more effectively and efficiently, by assuring consistent and accurate data and measures across the system. Through consistent data integrity, this project will define a more objective process that will allow each school and the system to tell the full story of its space utilization and improve the quality of space management decisions.

Currently, the project team has completed a product evaluation with MSU, Moorhead. The product, EMS Campus from DEA, exercised a number of scenarios including interfacing to ISRS. The evaluation passed with flying colors. We have started contract negotiation with the vendor and the project task force had its kickoff meeting.
