Z-Degree Project

Minnesota State is embarking on a project to create three new zero cost textbook degrees (Z-Degrees) on three different college campuses. We invite campuses in our system to consider being part of this project.

OER Learning Circles

OER Learning Circles provide faculty, from across the system and from any discipline, the opportunity to collaborate with others committed to redesigning courses and/or creating materials to eliminate textbook costs for students.

In addition to virtual weekly meetings, OER Learning Circles will utilize a D2L Brightspace course to support faculty and will take place over a ten-week period. The equivalent of .5 RCE is available to participating faculty.

Weekly meetings will be held September 30, 2019 – December 9, 2019.

Applications are due September 6, 2019.

OTN Webinars

Open Textbook Network Webinars introduce open educational resources, creative commons licensing, and the work with the Open Textbook Library at the University of Minnesota. Faculty participating in this webinar may review an open textbook located in the Open Textbook Library (open.umn.edu) and receive a $200.00 honorarium once the review is completed.

Creative Commons Certificate for Librarians – Fall

The Creative Commons Certificate is an in-depth course about CC licenses, open practices and the ethos of the Commons. The course is composed of readings, quizzes, discussions and practical exercises to develop learners’ open skills.

The Minnesota State system office will support up to ten seats for the CC Certificate for Librarians tract of the Creative Commons Certification cohort.

Date: The fall 2019 cohort runs from September 23 – November 29, 2019. Learn more and register by September 16, 2019.

OER Librarian’s Workshop Day

Academic librarians are critical partners in efforts to provide open educational resources (OER) for students and faculty. Educational Innovations is happy to announce an opportunity for librarians and library staff from across Minnesota State to come together for a day to network with colleagues, learn more about OER efforts across the system, and identify how librarians can be leaders and partners in our OER efforts.

Date: September 30, 2019 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.
